It's been a tough almost 11 months but a very busy month forsure. I dont even know where to begin. This month the Marrs household has had 7 different Dr. apts this month alone and already set up for 6 in Aug. Poor Logan has had one issue after another since birth. He was avg. a Dr. apt every 2 weeks, we are finally down to about 1-2 a month. Thankfully when Logan was around 5-6 months we found East End Ped. with Dr. Donavon, which they were no longer taking passport patients but took us anyways. They have been so great and I truly recommend to anyone and everyone. A long story short I will just catch you up on what has happened this month.
First Logan had a really bad reaction out of no where, which caused him to break out all over front and back, inside his ears were beet red, and his eyes and nose puffy and almost looked like his nose got burnt, the craziest sight ever. Took him to the Dr. and they sent him to ER for blood test. A week later the blood test showed he was extremely allergic to eggs, and then cows milk. He had to stay off all dairy and eggs off his allergy meds for a week so he could be seen by a specialist.
When we saw the specialist, I was shocked, they did a test on his back with multiple foods, pollens, dust mites, etc. I was amazed at all the red welps that developed. After 15 min the Dr. came back with a list of things he was allergic to:
tobacco
dust mites
cat
dog
cockroach dust
7 out of 12 diff mold
oak
walnut
hickory
birch
2 other inhaled allergens
cows milk
egg white
egg yoke
fish
oat
The Dr. said it was so rare of his age to be so allergic to so much and that on a scale of 1-10 Logan was a 9. He also had fluid in his left ear and his right was infected. He said that he could and was close to having asthma and an egg allergy was a red flag to respirtory infections. He has to wear a medical braclet and I have to carry a epipy pen. He has to be on 3 different meds everyday and an antibotic right now as well. He was sent to an ENT Dr. again to be checked out. So today we saw ENT (ears, nose, throat) and Logan is getting tubes Aug. 9th.
This has been a very long process, and as much as I have been so stressed for the past 11 months I couldnt even imagine what all Logan is feeling and that he has been the one going through it all, Im just the one that has to deal with it. I just pray he gets some relief soon and as much as I hate all the Dr. apts and the crazy days and nights, its so minor. I am beyond thankful that he doesnt have any serious life threating illness, Praise the Lord! I am always thankful for a family that has been there for us, and has helped out in everyway.

Oh Sarah,
ReplyDeleteI know what you are going through. I saw that picture of his back and got a flashback of Lydia. Lydia had that same thing done after many doctor visits and bouts of pneumonia. Hers turned into asthma. She had a list of allergies too...environmental and food. Grass, trees, mold, peanuts, fish, eggs, peas, grapes, yeast...it's exhausting. BUT the good news is....after a few years of staying away from all of those foods, taking allergy meds, using her inhaler, she is fine now. She is able to eat everything, she doesn't have an inhaler and she isn't sick every other day anymore. She does still have the environmental allergies but totally under control. HOPEFULLY, it will get better over time. but the good thing is, now you know what and why and you can control some of that. Good luck.
